Big Day DIY: Boutonnieres

Another wedding post. Sorry, but I did warn you! These were quick and easy – fabric covered buttons are definitely an instant-gratification project, and the fabric feathers were very simple. Inspiration came from two places: these button blossoms at Martha and these fabric feathers at 100 Layer Cake.

For the feathers, I used heavy-duty spray adhesive instead of glue sticks and they turned out great. I knew I would get full-coverage and permanence with the spray – I have yet to find a glue stick that is truly permanent.

I really like how these turned out – colorful, simple, and not-too-girly . . . at least, in my mind they’re pretty manly (Fabric covered buttons are manly, right? Right?!). Also, they’ll last forever! I hope they get resurrected as fedora pins in their post-wedding life. For now, they wait . . .

So simple and beautiful. I’m sure they will look fantastic. LOVE the idea of reusing them as fedora pins.
So lovely! If my husband wore one of these, I would be the one reusing it!
Ha! I know Nicky will use them — he has a ton of old-timey hats.
So pretty. And so unique. They will look amazing on the day
Olá…o simples que se torna diferente e lindo…Adorei. Sonia.
