Big Day Work-in-progress: Bouquets

Crepe paper is my new favorite thing! I’d never worked with it before, and just like anything new, there is definitely a learning curve. I think it took about five tries and lots of swears before I finally felt like I (sort of) had it down. But, once I got the hang of making these crepe paper flowers, I really loved the process!

I ordered some sheets of crepe from the Crepe Paper Store, which I highly recommend. The customer service is excellent (they even sent me little samples of all their colors before I ordered), AND getting a big box full of colorful paper in the mail ranks very high on my  thrill-factor list!

I started out with the Martha Stewart tutes, but quickly just moved on to freestylin’ it – crepe is very forgiving, especially when creating something like flowers, which are supposed to look organic anyway. If you try this, I think you’ll agree that the single-petal method is much nicer looking than the continuous-petal method . . . although much more time-consuming.

My original plan was to make ALL the flowers: cheap and lasting and worry-free. That dream died on hour three of this bouquet. Since I spent what seemed like 40 days and 40 nights working on this, I think I’ll just stick to two bouquets – one for me and one for my maid-of-honor. Too bad though, because I sure do like the looks of it! Photo time . . .

Hello I like them a bunch. It reminds me of the paper roses my Granny used to make and sell for Mothers Day. She would spend two weeks making red and or red and white corsages and boutneirs just for that one holiday.
