Life Lately // 5

Beans from scratch that turned into a delicious lemony kale soup.

My dad got married and I have a new step-mom! Go, dad!

Pinned it and did it: dotty pedicure. I promise to stop showing pictures of my feet now.

My friends, April and John, had a wedding Part Two (they eloped in Hawaii in February). Awesome time: beautiful outdoor setting at a nursery/sculpture garden, Nicky played Ring of Fire as April walked up the aisle, great food, photo booth, a fire dancer, and floating lanterns! April and John should have a wedding Part Three!
♥
In other news . . .
We saw Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes play an outdoor show, and it was perfection. On deck: Basilica Block Party where we’ll be seeing The Avett Brothers, The Lumineers, and Fitz & the Tantrums (if you’re in the TC, we should meet up!), and Boats & Bluegrass. Wee-hoo!
.
And now, if you have made it this far, I just have a few things I’d like to share. I am not gonna lie – I have been feeling very overwhelmed lately. Our schedule is so crammed full of stuff that I really don’t have a whole lot of time to myself to craft, draw, or write. The fact that my job is a stressful sit-at-a-computer-all-day type deal makes it even more difficult to get motivated to write and post. I feel creatively drained right now and find it hard to enjoy blogging (because that cuts into very rare alone time with Nicky), and hard to enjoy down-time (because I feel like I should be blogging). I need time to relax, time to clean the house, time to work on the shop and my own projects, time to exercise, time to enjoy what’s left of summer!
So, I hope you’ll bear with me as I take things slow here – I won’t vanish completely, but posting will be very sporadic and probably far-between until summer is over. I think giving myself permission to lay off a little bit will allow some space for more creative awesomeness to come in, and once autumn hits I’ll be (I hope) rested and ready to go!
Have a great holiday week, and I’ll see you around soon! Later, gators! ♥

Congrats on you dad’s remarriage! I hope all is wonderful for them!
Hey, I hear you about being busy!!! and I don’t even work outside the house! I can’t imagine working full time and life and doing what I want to do! As it is, I desire just free time without family / grandkids in order to sew or create! If you are like me, I have to have alone time to be creative, and feel like writing! You do exactly what you have to do, and I’m sure your friends, and blogging family will be here for you when you return! Enjoy this summer, and do what you also want to do!!! ♥♥♥
Oh, thank you so much. I wish you the very best of summer-times!
some great photos in your post! Congratulations to your dad and new wife I wish them the best for their future.
) and I find it hard to keep up my blog. I can perfectly understand how hard it must be for you after a long day at the computer for work. Blogging should be a pleasure and without obligation. So you do right to take a break without guilt for as long as you need. We’ll still be here when you feel like blogging again in the fall or when ever you feel the desire to blog next. I’ll look forward to it and seeing what you have been up to
Take care and have a great summer
Ellyx
I don’t have a job outside the home and my kids are grown up (still waiting for the grans

Hi!
Two weddings this summer! Sounds like a lot of fun. And I love the pic of you all sitting in the stone chair. ha ha I too work at a full time desk job with computers and most days the very last thing I want to do is get back on a computer to blog. I’ve tried to post something every week but since we moved from Maryland to South Carolina…..well let’s just say I too am taking a break. Have a great time this summer, don’t worry about us out here on the internet and enjoy LIFE! Cheers. Becky
Thanks, Becky! And, we actually had four weddings this summer – ack! I hope you’re staying cool down there — we’re having record heat up here, and I’m melting!
Take all the time you need to chillax! What fun is a blog if it adds stress? no bueno!
